Meet our Officers

Officers are elected annually at our Convention held the same date as the National Woman's Relief Corps Convention. Our fiscal year runs from September first, through August thirty-first.



President

Robert Petrovic

Robert "Bob" Petrovic is a Charter Member of Logan's Brigade and Treasurer, and National Aide de Camp. He is a Sons of Union Veterans Past Department Commander of Missouri and currently serves as Chairman of the SUVCW Charitable Foundation. Bob resides in Cedar Hill, Missouri with his wife, National Woman's Relief Corps President Cher Petrovic


Vice President

Jonathan Swarts

Vice President Jonathan Swarts (charter member) resides in Indiana. Vice President Swarts is the Commander of the Indiana Commandery of the Military Order of the Loyal Legion of the United States (MOLLUS). He is an office holder in Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War (SUVCW) John Auten Camp #8 and the Department of Indiana of the SUVCW. Vice President Swarts is also the National Junior Vice President of the Sons of Spanish American War Veterans (SSAWV). He resides with his wife and college-age son in South Bend, Indiana.



Secretary/Treasurer

Timothy O'Neal

Treasurer Timothy "Tim" O'Neal (charter member) served as Logan's Brigade Vice President and Director of Grant's Guards, Cadet Cop resides in Dallas, Oregon with his wife, National Woman's Relief Corps Presidential Liaison and G. A. R. Memorial Museum Board member Kathy Jo O'Neal. Together the O'Neals supervise the NWRC "Civil War Nurses Project" researching and documenting the women who served as nurses and support staff during the American Civil War.  He is also the secretary/treasurer of the Col. Edward D. Baker Camp #6 Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War Post located in Dallas, Oregon, and Department Secretary/ Treasurer of the Department of the Columbia SUVCW. He was an active Civil War reenactor from 2013 to 2019 with the 116th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, Company B. 


Chaplain

Steven Tichenor,

Past President


Steven "Steve" Tichenor was the first to join Logan's Brigade, Men's Associate to the NWRC. He was appointed to the office of President and helped to develop the basis of the organization. With his leadership, Logan's Brigade qualified through the steps to become a 509c3 associated with the NWRC. Steve designed the Brigade flag and membership badge. Steve resides in Saddle Brook, New Jersey.



Aide de Camp Edward Bower


Edward "Ed" Bower is a charter member and served on the Executive Board for the founding of Logan's Brigade. Ed resides in Murphysboro, Illinois, the birthplace and childhood hometown of General John A. Logan. He is married to Woman's Relief Corps Senior Vice President Kathy Bower. Ed believes his most significant accomplishment is surviving the childhood and teen years of being Dad to three daughters. He devotes his life now to four beautiful Granddaughters and one quite dashing Grandson, who is a charter member of Grant's Guards, Cadet Corps of Logan's Brigade.

MarkDaniel Chancy Brasel


MarkDaniel Chancy Brasel is a Charter Member of Logan's Brigade. He resides in Elma, Washington with his wife and triplets--a boy and two girls. MarkDaniel entered the United States Army in June 2000. He received training as an Infantryman, Army Ranger, with specialty in SERE (Survive, Escape, Resist, Evade). He was stationed in Germany, and deployed five tours in Iraq, and Afghanistan.

MarkDaniel, like John A. Logan, was severely wounded in battle. In 2005, He was wounded when his Stryker vehicle rolled over a deeply buried 100 pound IED and was destroyed. That same year he was wounded by a mortar chemical round that exploded and caused severe burns and wounds, requiring immediate Field Hospital emergency care. In 2007 he survived another wound when a sniper bullet hit his back plate while he was on dismounted patrol.

MarkDaniel continued his military service till forced to accept medical retirement December 27, 2012 with the rank of Staff Sergeant. He received the Bronze Star, Purple Heart (2nd award), Valorous Unit Award (3rd award), Afghanistan Campaign Medal with 3 campaign stars, Army Commendation Medal (2nd award), Army Good Conduct Medal (4th award), National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Expert Infantryman Badge, Ranger Tab, Parachute Badge, Combat Action Badge, Expert Marksmanship Badge with Rifle Bar, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal with Campaign Star (4th award), and the  Army Meritorious Unit Citation. Non Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (2nd award), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (3rd award). MarkDaniel's wounds/injuries documented include residuals of multiple concussions spanning over 30 IED's, and two VBED's, RPG, direct fire, and indirect fire.

MarkDaniel enjoys helping other veterans and volunteers at the local VFW. He also served as the Vice President of the non-profit Send-A-Vet Foundation organization that takes combat injured veterans on outdoor adventures. Ever mindful of volunteer activities in which he can involve his family, MarkDaniel is now volunteering with the Boy Scouts of America and is Cubmaster of Pack 4014 in Elma, Washington.
